Connecting
Advocacy work can sometimes seem like lonely work. We have something to learn from the fact that Jesus, in the Gospel of Mark, sends the disciples out two by two. As we go out into the world to advocate for a more just and compassionate immigration policy, we can learn from one another and seek support and encouragement.
The Office of Immigration Issues seeks to provide opportunities for Presbyterians to learn from one another and exchange ideas on best practices. While no advocacy program is one size fits all, sharing the challenges and celebrating successes together makes the journey not so lonely. You can find support by contacting the Office of Immigration Issues and telling us about the work being done in your local community and signing up for Presbyterians for Just Immigration listserv or requesting your local immigration work group be added to the network of Mid-Council Work Groups on Immigration.
Join Presbyterians For Just Immigration
Presbyterians For Just Immigration (PFJI) is a network of Presbyterians interested in various immigration issues and how these issues impact their communities, churches and presbyteries. PFJI is committed to fostering discussion, sharing resources, promoting advocacy, and writing liturgy on various immigration topics.
The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) is comprised of and led by individuals of many different backgrounds and our communities are typically more diverse. This network serves to empower Presbyterians to share vision, best practices, resources, and a passionate concern for those coming to the United States to live and work.
If you are interested in joining the Network send an email to Melissa G. Davis or call her if you have questions at (888) 728-7228, x5007.
