Travel, Accommodations, and Parking
Travel to Portland
Portland is easily accessible by most major airlines and Amtrak.
Portland is on Amtrak’s (www.Amtrak.com) Cascades, Coast Starlight, and Empire Builder routes. In Portland, the Amtrak station is located downtown, convenient by public transportation to the convention center and hotels.
The Portland airport (PDX) is located about ten miles (thirty-minute drive in good traffic) from downtown, and is on the TriMet Red Line http://trimet.org/schedules/maxredline.htm for convenient, inexpensive, and “green” transportation between the airport and downtown.
Commissioners, advisory delegates, and others whose GA expenses are covered by the Office of the General Assembly or the Presbyterian Mission Agency will receive an email with instructions and a link for booking airline reservations through Concur (an on-line booking tool) and Azumano, the assembly travel agency, so that the fare is charged to the appropriate GA budget. Please wait to receive this email to book travel.
Rooms are blocked at twelve hotels in downtown Portland. MAP. Those located on the east side are within walking distance of the convention center; those on the west side of the river are easily accessible to the convention center by public transportation.
Discounted rates at these assembly hotels are available to all participants, including observers, who register in advance through the GA Meeting Service. For a reservation, complete your registration as early as possible, and not later than May 9. (Note that available rooms may sell out before this deadline—do not delay.)
Reservations for rooms in these assembly hotels are made only through the G.A. registration process. Do not call the hotels for a reservation or book through their on-line reservation process.
These rates apply for one or two adult guests, and include guest room Internet.Occupancy tax (currently 15 percent) is in addition to the rates shown. The tax rate and guest parking fee are subject to change.
