The General Assembly Nominating Committee seeks your help in finding individuals, particularly ruling elders, persons of color, and/or young adults, to be considered for Co-Moderator appointed service on the following special entities: 

  • Rules of Discipline Task Force—Item 06-14—222nd General Assembly (2016)
  • Racism Truth and Reconciliation Commission of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)—Item 11-12—222nd General Assembly (2016)
  • Special Committee to Study the Reformed Perspective of Christian Education in the 21st Century—Item 14-12—222nd General Assembly (2016) 

The Committee on the Office of the General Assembly will also appoint persons to the Task Force on Implementing Child/Youth/Vulnerable Adult Protection Policies.

Young Adult Volunteers

The final application date for international placements in the Young Adult Volunteer Program is February 1st. Please encourage young adults, ages 19-30, to apply for a transformational year of service in twenty-one different sites throughout the U.S. and around the world. Applications for national sites are open until June 1st. Follow @yavprogram for behind the scene insights into each placement. Thanks for spreading the word!

White Privilege Conference (WPC18), Kansas City, Missouri, April 27–30, 2017: WPC 18 | Organizing. Strategizing. Taking-Action. Deconstructing the Culture of White Supremacy and Privilege: Creating Peace, Equity, and Opportunity in the Heartland. In its 18th year, the WPC will bring its event to Kansas City in April 2017. Averaging more than 2,250 persons in recent years, this is a huge conference on privilege, intersecting social justice interests, and power. Participants will be exposed to energizing and engaging workshops, other participants, movement people seeking racial justice from an antiracist place. We are pleased to announce the dates and location of the 2017 Mid-Council Leaders Gathering (formerly known as the Polity Conference) and related conferences. The Association of Mid Council Leaders, Association of Stated Clerks and Moderators’ Conference is October 13-14 and the Mid Council Leaders Gathering, co-sponsored by the Office of the General Assembly and the Board of Pensions, begins October 15 and ends at noon on October 17.   All meetings will be held at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at the Arch in St. Louis, MO. 

New Stated Clerk Orientation: April 3-5, Presbyterian Center, Louisville, KY.  The Office of the General Assembly (OGA) will be offering an orientation for new presbytery stated clerks April 3-5, with travel to Louisville on April 2.  All the expenses for the orientation of your new clerk are paid with per capita funds by the OGA. If your presbytery has or will have a newly elected stated clerk, who has not participated in this training before, please email Diane Minter at Diane.Minter@pcusa.org, providing the name, presbytery, and email of the new clerk.  The OGA will contact them directly to provide additional information.  

Presbytery Pastoral Care Network Conference: "Bursting Wineskins:  Creative Responses to Christ's Changing Church," April 18-20, Louisville Presbyterian Seminary, Louisville Kentucky. This annual conference is designed to share resources about the essential best ministry practices at the presbytery level that promote clergy wellness in a proactive way. Clergy, Presbytery or Synod leaders and staff, COM, CPM, Christian Educators, CREs and volunteers are encouraged to attend.  Registration information can be found at: http://www.pastoralcarenetwork.org/2017-conference.html
