Moderators' Conference 2013
Moderators' Conference 2013
2013 Moderators’ Conference
The 2013 Moderators Conference will be held November 8-10, 2013 at the downtown Marriott in Louisville, KY. The conference will open with a welcome reception on Friday morning at 8:30 am and end with closing worship on Sunday by 11:00 am. The theme of the 2013 Moderators' Conference will be “Who do people say the Son of Man is? Who do you say that I am?: A Conversation on Presbyterian Identity for a 21st century Church and World.” In the midst of a changing ecclesial landscape, we as Presbyterians are needing to recover our shared identity and calling. We find this most powerfully in the context of the covenant community that gathers around Word and Sacrament, and then is sent out to testify of the Good News of Jesus Christ.
The registration fee is $300 for each participant. This fee includes materials for the conference and meals starting with lunch on Friday and ending with breakfast on Sunday. Dinner on Saturday is not included. Past participants have asked for a free evening, so Saturday dinner will be on your own to connect with friends, old and new. We will, however, have a reception at the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts on late Saturday afternoon which, for many, is sufficient food for the night. Registration does not include travel or hotel accommodations.
How to Register for the Conference
Creating/using PC(USA) accounts
If you registered for the 2011 or 2013 Big Tent or the 2012 General Assembly, you should already have an account; please use it to start your registration. We encourage others to create a PC(USA) account as you register for this meeting. This will enable you to return to your registration if you must stop before you complete it, and to view your completed registration details at a later time. Having an account facilitates future transactions with the Presbyterian Center - registering for some other PC(USA) conferences, donating funds, etc.
Criteria for secure user names and passwords appears on the login/create account page; following this helps ensure the security of the data.
Registration is now open.
If received by Friday, November 1, 2013, we will honor refund requests of the registration fee less $50.00 for participants who need to cancel. Such requests must be sent to email@example.com, or sent via fax to (502) 569-8642. Cancellation of hotel room and/or airline tickets is the responsibility of the participant. Please check with your airlines and the hotel for cancellation requirements and policies.
I have other questions, how can I get answers?

News & Statements
November 12, 2013
Access God-given power through the Holy Spirit to be agents of change for Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) mid councils, Moderators’ Conference 2013 attendees were told on Friday, November 8.
“God is powerful and calls us to be vessels through which that power can be exhibited,” said Bill Golderer, convening pastor of Broad Street Ministry and pastor of Arch Street Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia. The PC(USA) is not exempt from this because it is fussy or petty or discouraged or tired, he said.
What is the Moderators’ Conference?
The 209th General Assembly (1997) voted to encourage "that an annual gathering be called by the Moderator of the General Assembly... and that this conference be held in Louisville, providing moderators the opportunity to meet and talk with national staff. [All expenses would be paid by the individuals attending or by their governing bodies]"
(Commissioners' Resolution 97-3: Minutes 1997, Part I, p. 738)
Over the years the Moderator’s Conference has come to be known as a wonderful and significant opportunity for moderators of synods and presbyteries to get to know one another, to share best practices, and to be trained in the important ministry of moderating our mid councils. Each year, in addition to opportunities for education and fellowship, moderators engage in discussion and reflection on important issues in the life of the church.
