Moderators' Conference 2014

Moderators' Conference 2014

The 2014 Moderators Conference was held November 7-9, 2014 at the Hyatt Regency in Louisville, KY. Over the years the Moderator’s Conference has come to be known as a wonderful and significant opportunity for moderators of synods and presbyteries to get to know one another, to share best practices, and to be trained in the important ministry of moderating our mid councils.

Each year, in addition to opportunities for education and fellowship, moderators engage in discussion and reflection on important issues in the life of the church. The theme of the 2014 Moderator’s Conference will be “The Ministry of Reconciliation". The preacher for opening worship will be Teaching Elder, Larissa Kwong Abazia, Vice-Moderator of the 221st General Assembly. The preacher for closing worship will be Ruling Elder, Heath K. Rada, Moderator of the 221st General Assembly.

What is the Moderators’ Conference?

2013 Moderators' Conference

The 209th General Assembly (1997) voted to encourage "that an annual gathering be called by the Moderator of the General Assembly... and that this conference be held in Louisville, providing moderators the opportunity to meet and talk with national staff. [All expenses would be paid by the individuals attending or by their governing bodies]"

    Larissa Kwong Abazia

The days when divided and conflicted Presbyterians could gloss over or ignore their differences are over, General Assembly Vice-moderator Larissa Kwong Abazia said today (Nov. 7).

“This day,” she told more than 120 presbytery and synod leaders gathered here for the annual Moderators Conference, “we are called to move through the pain and suffering, to have the tough conversations, to face one another as brothers and sisters in Christ, and take the hard together.”
