The seal of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) is a registered trademark, registered in the United States Patent and Trademark Office on the principal register. In addition, the seal is registered with the United States Copyright Office. The seal is comprised of the symbol, the basic components of which are the cross, Scripture, a descending dove at the upper part of the cross and flames on either side of the lower part of the cross, and the name of the denomination, Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), encircles the symbol.

The seal was approved by the 197th General Assembly (1985). Each congregation and governing body may use the seal without receiving prior permission. Congregations and governing bodies may not, however, license use of the seal to any one else. All other organizations, groups and members must receive prior written permission to use the seal.

The design and proportions of the symbol must not be altered in any way, except the size may be changed for use on stationery, signs, banners and so forth.

*Note: EPS files work best with Adobe Illustrator or Macromedia Freehand. The best method for opening an EPS file is going into the program you want to open the EPS in and selecting File > Open.

Downloading Instructions
Each image is shown as a thumbnail, or miniature version, and is linked to its larger counterpart. Images that are very large and high quality may take some time to download with a dial up Internet connection.

To download the graphics or photos, follow these steps:

  • Point the mouse arrow on the image or the link.
  • For PC users, right-click on the image so that a menu appears. For Mac users, press and hold down the mouse button to see the menu.
  • Choose "Save Target as" if you're using Internet Explorer, or choose "Save Link as" if you're using Netscape Navigator.
  • Select the name that's in the "File name" box and type in the name you would like to give the image.
  • Click the down arrow to the right of the "Save as type" box.
    Pick a format to save the image as.
  • Double click on the folder you want to save it in.
  • Click the button to the right of the "File name" box. Depending on your browser, it's either called Save or Open.
