COGA Workgroups for GA225 Planning

 

Each of these workgroups serve unique purposes in support of Office of the General Assembly (OGA) Staff and their work to implement the Stated Clerk’s guiding vision and the Committee on the Office of the General Assembly (COGA)’s decisions related to the 225th General Assembly (2022) . Collaboration and trust will undergird these teams' work individually and as an overall support and visionary for the 225th General Assembly.

The workgroups meet regularly via Zoom and are open to observers as per the Open Meeting Policy.  If you are interested in joining a call as an observer, please contact the staff member serving on the workgroup (email addresses provided below).

Standing Rules Review GA225 Coordination GA226 Planning

 


Standing Rules Review Workgroup

This team was created by the Committee on the Office of the General Assembly (COGA) to: 

  • Determine whether or not to propose a newly written Standing Rules document or to continue amending the current version
  • Review the recommendations to amend the Standing Rules that are already submitted
  • Work with staff and other stakeholders on additional changes
  • Consult frequently with COGA’s other workgroups to ensure enabling Standing Rules for the 225th and 226th are included as needed
  • Present final recommendation for action to COGA at its February 7-9 meeting

GA225 Coordination Workgroup

This team was created by the Committee on the Office of the General Assembly (COGA) to: 

  • Consolidate the work of the previous COGA Workgroups (Design, Events, Process and Discernment, and Communications)
  • Consult with staff to ensure that necessary decisions are made in a timely manner
  • Provide guidance to staff as they implement planning for GA225
  • Consult with COGA’s Standing Rules Review Workgroup to ensure enabling Standing Rules for the 225th assembly are included as needed
  • Ensure appropriate contingency plans are in place to address pandemic concerns
  • Coordinate the evaluation of the assembly with appropriate entities

GA226 Planning Workgroup

This team was created by the Committee on the Office of the General Assembly (COGA) to:

  • Plan for commissioner, advisory delegate, and other participant engagement around questions of the future of the assembly
  • Engage the broader church, including national entities and mid councils, on questions about the nature of the assembly
  • Consult with COGA’s Standing Rules Review Workgroup to ensure enabling Standing Rules for the 226th assembly are included as needed
  • Prepare recommendations on the plans for GA226 for COGA’s consideration (may include recommendations to the 225th General Assembly)
