Moderators' Conference Registration
By October 28

If you have any difficulties registering or other questions please email gameetingservice@pcusa.org, or call (800) 728-7228. ext. 2417.

The Co-Moderators of the 224th General Assembly (2020), Gregory Bentley and Elona Street-Stewart, are looking forward to welcoming moderators, vice moderators, and moderators-elect of synods and presbyteries to this virtual conference focused on the theme “And you shall be my witnesses: Cultivating Mission-Minded Leadership.”

We will worship together, and topics will include duties of moderators, parliamentary procedure, the Constitution of the PC(USA), and more.

Because our time together online will be shorter than we would have had in person, a number of topics will be introduced virtually, with participants encouraged to engage in advance in order to get the most out of the conference. Those elements will be added as they become available on the PC(USA)’s Equip platform. The site will be available no later than October 1, and registrants will receive instructions about how to enroll at that time. Registered participants will have access to the site, where recordings of the sessions will be posted, after the event as well.

Workshops

The final session on Friday, November 12, will feature workshops – please choose one during registration.

All workshops (except for any breakout groups) will be recorded, and registrants will have access to the recordings after the conference in the ModCon2021 course on Equip.pcusa.org.

Conflict and the Constitution
The presbytery is responsible for the government of the church throughout its district, and for assisting and supporting the witness of congregations to the sovereign activity of God in the world, so that all congregations become communities of faith, hope, love, and witness.  When conflict arises within congregations of your presbytery which inhibits the witness of faith, what resources are available to the presbytery to help those persons work through their conflict?  What role does the Moderator have in both administrative and discipline processes?

General Assembly – Engaging our Connectional Church
What happens at General Assembly shouldn’t stay at General Assembly. And neither should what happens at a presbytery or synod. Our connectional church is most vibrant and vital when we communicate and engage one another. Hear about what to expect at General Assembly, especially the upcoming 225th General Assembly (2022), discuss overtures and how to interpret GA actions for mid councils, imagine how to connect what happens at GA to mid councils and/or congregations, and more.

IDI 101 – Introduction to the Intercultural Development Inventory for Leaders and Groups
PC(USA) national staff and many mid councils have begun to use the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) to enhance the ability of individuals, teams, and organizations to navigate cultural differences and similarities. IDI is an equipping tool used to assess the capacities of leaders and groups and to inform approaches to meet intercultural and ministry goals. Hear an introduction to the inventory, learn about the framework behind it, and consider how your mid council might benefit from IDI.

The Image of God in Us All
Look in the mirror, across the street, to the evening news, to the borders… and see human beings – each and all created in the image of the living, loving, saving God! Understanding that image of God gives us reason to pause and consider ourselves, others, and ourselves with others. Understanding more about the image of God says something about the words we speak, our thoughts, and our actions.  Join in thinking critically together and considering how our understanding of the image of God informs us, even transforms us, here and now.
