Hands and Feet

Presbyterians engaged in communities

Hands & Feet is a new initiative to highlight and strengthen local and national efforts by the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) to facilitate change and communicate God’s love. The project builds upon the grassroots, community work congregations, mid councils, and the national office are already doing, and dovetails with the biennial General Assembly gathering. Work already is underway via Hands & Feet and the Presbytery of Giddings-Lovejoy to engage with mission and ministry projects on the ground in St. Louis, Missouri, site of the 223rd General Assembly (2018) scheduled for June 1623, 2018.

“If we, through new and existing mission and ministry programs, immerse ourselves in St. Louis over the next eighteen months, our General Assembly gathering will be a natural extension of our charge to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ in action, and not simply a meeting,” said the Reverend Dr. J. Herbert Nelson, II, Stated Clerk of the General Assembly. Hands & Feet will be replicated in Baltimore, Maryland, for the 224th General Assembly (2020), and in Columbus, Ohio, for the 225th General Assembly (2022).
